The Ultimate Build Out: TAMU's Equine Center

As part of a series of projects to build out Texas A&M University's Equine Facilities, GLS assisted in Phase II, which concerned the Center's infrastructure. With approximately 200 acres of land to develop, GLS focused on the sizing and design of the infrastructure for research facilities, nutrition laboratories, an arena, pavilion, classroom/lecture facilities and dedicated pastures. This framework included waterlines, sewer lines, a concrete roadway, a gravel roadway, gravel access drive, a lift station, multiple culverts, and a standby generator.

For the project, the waterline was modeled and designed for full development and able to provide fire protection. Similarly, the sanitary sewer collection system and lift station was sized based on the assumed flows of full development. The lift station incorporated submersible lift pumps and a stand-by generator.

GLS was the design engineer and surveyor for Phase 2. For the surveying portion of the project, a 200 +/- acre topographic survey was completed. GLS also provided the civil, electrical and control design for the Equine Center including the drainage design, waterline modeling, and utility sizing and design. This also required coordination with TAMU's electrical department.
