Job Summary: GLS seeks a highly-motivated Engineer-in-Training  Electrical Engineer to join our MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Design Department. The Candidate shall provide a State of Texas E.I.T. certification or evidence of current registration to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination. The ideal Candidate would have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Excel.

 

The successful Candidate would be working under the supervision of a Professional Electrical Engineer and would be involved with designing electrical systems. The ideal Candidate should be comfortable working in a fast­paced team environment, dealing with Clients and various disciplines of project design teams (other Engineers, Architects, and Drafting Persons). Our company would provide in­house guidance in the project-specific needs of our Clients (primarily K-12 Schools, to a lesser degree commercial, institutional, governmental, and industrial.)

 

Responsibilities (all under the supervision & guidance of an Electrical Professional Engineer):

 

  • Contribute to the design of electrical systems for commercial and institutional projects, including power, lighting, communications, and fire alarm systems.

 

  • Assist in preparing electrical plans and specifications using AutoCAD. Attend site visits and work with Project Managers and Architects to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.

 

  • Assist in preparing construction cost estimates and participate in bid and construction meetings.

 

  • Collaborate with other Engineers, Technicians, Architects/Project Managers, and Drafting Persons to meet project timelines and budgets.

 

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and recommend improvements to processes, procedures, and technologies.

 

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical  Engineering.

 

  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD (knowledge of REVIT software would be a plus) and Excel.

 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.

 

  • Plans to take the State of Texas Principles and Practice of Engineering Examination (PE exam) and complete the necessary steps to become a Professional Engineer.

 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non­technical team members.

 

  • Experience in the AEC industry (or commercial designs) would be a Plus (but is not required).

  • Contribute to the design of mechanical (HVAC and Plumbing) systems and components for predominantly facility projects.    

 

  • Assist in analyzing project design requirements, evaluating potential solutions, and recommending the best course of action.    

 

  • Contribute to creating equipment call-outs schedules (i.e., the details required for procurement) and technical designs for drafters, customizing standard specifications, and developing detailed schematics to meet Project needs and ensure compliance with applicable Codes (building codes, energy codes, mechanical codes, plumbing codes, etc.).    

 

  • Collaborate as a team member with other Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers to meet project timelines and budgets.   

 

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and recommend improvements to GLS processes, procedures, and technologies to increase department efficiency and productivity.

Registered PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR
WACO, TEXAS
BRYAN, TEXAS
LUFKIN, TEXAS

GLS is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Project Manager, RPLS to join our team in Bryan, Texas. As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead the survey department with multiple crews and manage day-to-day operations in coordination with other department heads. We are seeking a candidate with a "hit the ground running" attitude, the ability to manage multiple projects at once, and the potential to train and lead other RPLS in the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage survey department staff and schedules, ensuring that all survey deliverables meet quality standards

  • Oversee business development activities, including proposal preparation and project management

  • Interact with clients and staff on technical matters related to surveying

  • Conduct property boundary surveys and provide legal descriptions for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents

  • Collaborate with project team members, including architects, engineers, and other RPLS

  • Coordinate activities of field crews, including providing job assignments, information, direction, and daily checking of work product

  • Review and process the results of field surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land features and structures

  • Verify the accuracy of field survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites

Job Requirements:

  • Current Texas RPLS or licensure in another state and the ability to obtain licensure in Texas in the next 6 months

  • 2+ years of relevant land survey experience, including field staff management experience

  • 2+ years of operational land experience

  • 2+ years of electrical transmission, electrical distribution, or renewables experience

  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation Trimble, GPS, and robotic total stations

  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant technical software, including Civil 3D and MicroSurvey

  • Proficient in Microsoft Products

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Must maintain a budget, have the ability to forecast, and determine future clients

  • Excellent cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team, assisting with the training of survey personnel, coordination of field work, and leading others in accomplishing work activities
